Eligibility & Registration

Candidates have to meet the following eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced:

Eligibility Criterion 1:

The aspirant has to be among the top 2,50,000 candidates who appeared for JEE Main. The given number can vary depending on the number of tied ranks or scores. Both JEE Main 2020 and JEE Main qualified candidates can appear for the exam.

Eligibility Criterion 2:

Aspirants belonging to the general category should be below the age of 25. While those belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD category should be below the age of 30.

Eligibility Criterion 3:

The aspirant shouldn't be attempting for the 3rd time in 3 consecutive years. They are allowed to appear for the exam just twice in 2 consecutive years.

Eligibility Criterion 4:

The aspirant must have passed their Class XII examination or Equivalent in the examination year or in the year before that. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics must be the compulsory subject of the aspirant in his/ her Class XII examination. There are no minimum or maximum eligibility marks to qualify for the examination.

But there is an exception in this criterion. If the candidate appeared for the Class XII examination 2 years before the year of examination, and if his/ her results are declared after June that year, then the candidate is eligible for the exam.

For example, an aspirant who wants to appear for JEE Advanced after completing their Class XII Examinations in the 2018-19 session must have got their Class XII scores before June 2019. Failing to do so, he/ she cannot appear for the exam.

Presuming the result of other students was released before June 2019 and the aspirant's result was withheld, then the aspirant is not eligible to answer JEE Advanced.

Eligibility Criterion 5:

An aspirant isn't eligible for undertaking JEE Advanced if he/ she had been admitted to IIT in the previous year or has accepted an IIT seat at a reporting centre. Even though he/ she had decided not to continue with the program, they cannot undertake the exam.

If the candidature of an aspirant was cancelled after taking admission at any IIT, then he/ she won't be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced.

The schedule should give priority to weaker areas to help you focus on them better. It should have provisions of break that would help them rejuvenate and come back to the study table. Time Management is the key to succeed in these examinations, and candidates should be doing it effectively with the help of a schedule.

  • Flashbacks helps tasting success:
